Solo swims are completed in accordance with recognized open water swimming standards and undergo a thorough ratification process modeled after the World Open Water Swimming Association (WOWSA) guidelines. Swims are documented with an Observer log, GPS tracking, photographic evidence, and adherence to traditional marathon swimming rules—no wetsuits, no physical contact with the support crew, and no use of propulsion aids. These requirements help ensure that each swim represents an authentic, verified solo effort, and upholds the integrity of the sport.
