Swim Around Manhattan | June 8, 2024 | Six Person Relay Team

SWIMMING FOR SWIMMERS

We kicked off the 2024 season in early June with a six person relay Swim Around Manhattan as a fundraiser for the Stand by Me Foundation.  The Stand by Me Foundation is a non-profit organization established in 2012 by international swim coaches and Olympic swimmers to empower athletes at every level – from those who are just learning to those who are competing and even beyond.

The relay team—Andrea Amato, Carrie Hillebrand, Colleen Stranzl, Danielle Honrath, Fleur Sohtz, and Nate Freeman—completed the course in just under 8 hours, raising nearly $25,000.

The event was memorable, with New Yorkers cheering on the swimmers from ferries, piers, sidewalks, and bike paths. The funds raised will help both elite swimmers and those just learning to swim, fostering a supportive community and promoting swimming accessibility.
